The Ultimate Convenience for an Evening Out

I have used Americano before for lunch and enjoyed it, so when we had a chance to get a night out on the town it was a convenient choice and located in the Joule Hotel next to some other cool bars. With this in mind it was worth the sacrifice of ambiance in exchange for the ultimate convenience. The interior is not set up for an amorous evening but the service is good and the drinks are basic but nice. If you want to eat and then enjoy the downtown this is a great place to start, but get in before the wait because the normalcy of the food is not worth waiting around for a table.

Speaking of the chow, we started with the tomatoes and mozzarella, but the basil was a minor garnish and the mozzarella was rationed like ice cream at a CrossFit convention. I needed some cheese so we added a margarita pizza to the order. I loved the crust and it was cooked perfectly and was enough for two of us to share as we finished our Rose. Next time I have a lunch break, I will stop in for a pie without a doubt. But this was dinner so I needed more than a pizza and opted for the lasagna. A safe choice, right? Right. Good, not mind blowing and not grandma’s but good enough to hit the spot. It was smaller than the price might suggest…at $18 I expected a more substantial portion. The noodles were obviously house made and the sauce was elegant and had the right amount of cheese and more fresh basil than the tomatoes!

Americano ended up being a good stop for us on the evening out and I would recommend it, but keep these tips in mind. Go early, don’t wait, order plenty and be with someone you’re comfortable with… finally, take a stroll through the Joule and enjoy the art, the people watching and the free glass of prosecco when you check in!

The Perfect Spot for a Quick Lunch or Great Evening

Perfect spot whether looking for a quick lunch or a great evening. It is attached to the beautiful Joule Hotel and offers free valet parking. Americano was designed to be reminiscent of open air cafes with multi party seating making it very inviting. They have a precious sunroom of sorts that offer tons of light and great people watching views of Main Street downtown. We were seated in a banquette and quickly were greeted by our server. After looking over the impressive, Italian themed drink menu I chose some rosé champagne that was served in glamorous vintage 1920’s glasses. Personally, I found myself spilling all over the place trying to drink out of them it but was a nice touch none the less. My one complaint of the evening was that they do not serve bread while waiting with drinks. Because of this we ordered a traditional margherita pizza to enjoy with drinks. It had basil, cheese with tomato slices and I must say the best crust I have had in a while. Next, we tried the caprese salad which was delicious and fresh but short on mozzarella. For our main courses, I had the sea bass which came served over a bed of wilted spinach and garbanzo beans and Tim had the lasagna. My sea bass was perfectly prepared and flaky and not a bit “fishy”, while Tim’s lasagna was equally delicious but probably one of the smallest portions of lasagna I have ever seen! We both opted for another drink rather than dessert. All in all, a nice dinner in a fantastic location. Service was attentive and décor was sharp and modern. The bar seemed to be hopping and over all the restaurant had quite a few groups who looked as if they were just beginning their evenings. Dress ranged from casual to night out on the town. We had a reservation, and recommend this, as the place is small and busy on Friday and Saturday evenings. Do not just take our word for it but go and check out Americano!
